NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves rolls out arena-focused mobile app with VenueNext

NBA basketball franchise the Minnesota Timberwolves and its WNBA counterpart the Minnesota Lynx have signed a multi-year partnership with VenueNext to create a mobile app.

The new unified app will give fans access to team content, arena information and ticketing in one place.

The Timberwolves app will launch prior to the start of the 2017-18 season and the Lynx app prior to the 2018 season.

VenueNext debuted in 2014 during NFL American football franchise the San Francisco 49ers’ first home game at Levi’s Stadium.

Since then, it has secured partnerships with Yankee Stadium, AT&T Stadium, Amway Center, Churchill Downs and the new US Bank Stadium.

“We’re thrilled to partner with VenueNext and look forward to rolling out these new state-of-the-art apps to our fans,” said Timberwolves and Lynx chief executive Ethan Casson.

“With 80 per cent of our fan base entering the arena on game day using a mobile device, we wanted to find a way to better serve those individuals through personalised communication and an amplified fan experience. Having been a part of VenueNext’s inception, it’s exciting for me to continue working with this company and implement their technology for Timberwolves and Lynx fans.”
