Derby County launches recruitment drive for new Pride Park restaurant

English Championship football club Derby County is looking for a wide-range of new staff to run its upcoming bar and restaurant at Pride Park Stadium, the club’s home ground.

Following last month’s approval, the venue’s Funktion Fitness gym, in the west corner of the 34,000-capacity stadium, will become a bar and restaurant.

The company appointed to operate the facility, Delaware North UK, is advertising up to 12 new hospitality and catering jobs.

The new bar and restaurant will be called The Yard, a nod to the railway yards on which the stadium and the surrounding Pride Park business park were built, according to planning documents.

A job advert reads: “The football chants have been re-written and the players are back for a new season, preparing hard and training to make sure they are in the best place to make a charge towards play-off positions.

“Here at Delaware North we are no different and we are checking our team sheet to make sure we have the best players in our squad for the start of the Championship season in August.

“We are looking for skilful, fast team players who are available for selection for all match days at Pride Park Stadium. We need to add strength and talent in all areas of our squad.”

The venue is looking for an assistant restaurant manager, a duty manager, a restaurant host, bar staff and waiting staff.

A description of the new bar and restaurant said: “This is no cookie cutter restaurant concept – a new brand, new look, new feel restaurant is coming to Pride Park in Derby.

“The restaurant, based on the perimeter of the home of Derby County Football Club, will incorporate the local heritage of the area, ensuring a sense of pride and ownership for the people of Derby.

“Our starting point for this restaurant and bar was celebrating Derbyshire as a county from the local-influenced interior, local-inspired menu and going forward, the fantastic local team.

“The space will offer guests a place to meet for brunch, lunch and dinner or mingle over small plates and drinks in this relaxed space, any time of the day.

“Match days will come and this space will offer a warm welcome for those looking to eat and drink ahead of the big game in a bustling and vibrant atmosphere.”
