Wasps seeks to bolster security at Ricoh Arena

English Premiership rugby union team Wasps has signed up Scutum Group as its new official security technology partner at the club’s Ricoh Arena home stadium.

The deal will run for three years and see Scutum and its subsidiary companies become the sole supplier of physical security and fire prevention products at the Coventry venue.

The agreement will also entitle Scutum to sleeve sponsorship of Wasps’ home and away shirts, as well as branding placement on various surfaces inside the stadium.

“The safety and security of our staff, supporters, partners and visitors to the Ricoh Arena has always been and will continue to be our priority,” Wasps group chief executive Nick Eastwood said.

“We already have robust security measures in place, but we look forward to working with Scutum International as a global leader in safety and risk management to enhance provisions still further, in particular with regard to our IT infrastructure.

“Over 25 years, Scutum has developed a wide range of expertise that enables it to address clients’ needs in many sectors and this will be beneficial to Wasps as an evolving professional rugby club and to the Ricoh Arena as a multi-purpose venue that hosts concerts, events and exhibitions 365 days of the year.”

The Scutum Group operates in the UK, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany, and has more than 25 years’ experience in the security sector.

Franck Namy, chairman of the Scutum Group, added: “We are excited about working with Wasps and our partnership has two significant synergies. Firstly, as a proud sponsor of an innovative, elite rugby club who are driven by the desire to succeed on the pitch and to be a venue of choice for family-friendly entertainment off the field.

“Secondly, as a supplier of security and fire prevention products to the Ricoh Arena and the wider Wasps family to ensure the continuation of a safe and secure environment to operate within.”

The deal comes after the Ricoh Arena also recently struck up a new hospitality partnership with international homewares brand Robert Welch.
