New Era Field lowers energy consumption with new lighting system

Vertex Solutions has installed an upgraded LED lighting system at New Era Field, home of NFL American football team the Buffalo Bills, for the new season.

The new Carolina High Mast LED system has halved the stadium’s energy consumption, while increasing lighting levels by almost 30 per cent.

The Bills said the new system would save 390 kilowatts of energy over the course of the season. Ultra-low flicker technology also allows fans to see slow-motion replays more clearly on big screens at New Era Field.

The system will offer instant performances and will eliminate long start delays caused by power disruption. In addition, the system features an integral DMX control unit, allowing the stadium to initiate flashing, strobing and chasing of lights to enhance the viewing experience during music concerts and other non-sporting events.

Vertex Solutions is the local representative of Texas-based outdoor lighting provider Carolina High Mast, a division of CHM Industries. New Era Field follows Atlanta’s SunTrust Park and San Francisco’s AT&T Park in installing CHM systems this year.
