JSU boosts fan experience with giant new Daktronics screen

Video display and scoreboard specialist Daktronics has fitted a new LED video display at Burgess-Snow Field at JSU Stadium, the home ground for Jacksonville State University’s college football team.

The new screen will be showcased tomorrow (Saturday) during the game between the Jacksonville State Gamecocks and the Eastern Kentucky Colonels.

The display is roughly 12 feet high by 80 feet wide and features a 13HD pixel layout, similar to that on the board used at Auburn University, which has the largest video display in college football.

The display will provide wide-angle visibility for all fans inside the 24,000-seat stadium in Alabama. The technology also features environmental protection to ensure the display is functional during bad weather.

The display can show one large image or be divided into multiple zones to provide live video, instant replays, statistics, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages.

“The new state-of-the-art digital video board is a great enhancement to JSU Stadium,” JSU athletic director Greg Seitz said. “JSU is committed to giving its great fans the best game-day experience possible, and with the installation of the largest video board in the Ohio Valley Conference, we are thrilled with the results.”

Daktronics sales representative Glen Marts added: “We’re proud to extend our long-standing partnership with JSU Athletics for this new video display upgrade. This new installation replaced the previous system we installed 10 years ago. I was excited to see what the new display brought to the already great atmosphere at Burgess-Snow Field at JSU Stadium.”

Daktronics’ Show Control System, which provides display control software, video processing, data integration and playback hardware, was also included in the installation.

JSU has also upgraded its fixed-digit scoreboard at the stadium as part of the agreement with Daktronics.
