Npower teams up with Wasps, Ricoh Arena

Energy provider Npower has agreed a deal to become the official energy partner of English Premiership rugby union team Wasps and the team’s home stadium, the Ricoh Arena.

As part of the deal, Npower will install a combined heat and power plant at the 32,000-capacity stadium, which also serves as the home of League Two football club Coventry City.

The installation of the plant will mean that Wasps will generate their own electricity on-site and create heat for the stadium and the under-pitch heating system.

Under the agreement, Npower will launch an exclusive tariff for Wasps rugby and netball fans, as well as Ricoh Arena visitors, in 2018. Further benefits of the partnership will include exclusive customer offers, competitions and energy-saving tips.

Stuart Cain, commercial director of Wasps and the Ricoh Arena, said: “This is a powerful partnership for both the club and the arena. Npower’s technical expertise and infrastructure is a game changer in the way our arena can power our three business drivers of sport, business and entertainment.

“Npower shares Wasps’ values in the commitment to our local community and the new tariff offering will be an exciting addition for our fans. We are excited to be working with such a well-known brand and one that further enhances our growing family of blue chip partners.”
