Super League scores support for video referees

The English Super League club rugby league competition has entered into a new partnership with medical negligence specialist Patient Claim Line.

Patient Claim Line has signed a two-year deal that will allow it take ownership of a newly created property in the sport and sponsor all video referee decisions at the Super League games.

In addition, Patient Claim Line, which is based in Southport and has also offices in Manchester, will benefit from extensive brand awareness, with its sponsorship to feature during matches that are broadcast live on Sky Sports.

“We’re pleased to welcome Patient Claim Line to the sport and I am sure that this will be the start of a fantastic relationship with a new partner,” Super League general manager Mark Foster (pictured below left) said.

“Referral to a video referee is a hot topic in sport at the moment but it is something we have been doing for twenty years in Super League. This new partnership with Patient Claim Line is a first for Rugby League and will give them huge brand exposure throughout the 2018 and 2019 seasons.”

Ed Fletcher (pictured right), chief executive of Patient Claim Line, added: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Super League in a new and innovative way for the 2018 season and beyond.

“We are determined to break down the barrier between injured patients and justice so that people who have been affected by medical negligence can get the help they need to rebuild their lives.

“People need a real expert to review their case quickly and give them a straight forward, simple, honest answer as to whether or not they have a case. The way the match officials in Super League use the video referee to achieve a similar goal is a wonderful metaphor for our service.”
