ADI lands major screen contract for Glasgow 2018

Event LED specialist ADI has been appointed as the official screen supplier for this year’s debut edition of the European Championships multi-sport event in Glasgow, Scotland.

ADI, which won the contract through a competitor tender process managed by Glasgow City Council, will provide over 900sqm of high resolution LED in both mobile and modular formats.

The project will include a 230sq m modular LED screen in 6mm resolution at the SSE Hydro, which will host gymnastics competitions at this summer’s event. The screen will be able to take up to 16 feeds.

ADI will also supply a range of screens for ‘Festival 2018’ sites at the Merchant City and George Square areas of Glasgow. Here, fans can gather to enjoy a wide-ranging programme of dance, film, music, visual art and theatre.

In addition, ADI will deliver multiple plasma displays and manage the signal distribution across all competition and non-competition venues.

A team of 30 staff from ADI will be on-site for almost four weeks to support the install of screens, live event and removal afterwards.

Nick Robinson, director of screen rental at ADI, said: “Having been involved in delivering some of the largest events ever held in the city – most notably the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games – we look forward to this incredible sporting occasion and supplying an exciting and unique range of screen services to help make it memorable.

“The requirement for a mixture of mobile and modular LED products is well-suited to our capabilities; we can provide the right solution for the 14 different indoor and outdoor venues, including screens that will deliver real wow factor.”

The Glasgow leg of the 2018 European Championships will run from August 2-12. The Scottish city is hosting aquatics, cycling, golf, gymnastics, rowing and triathlon competitions, while the German capital of Berlin will host the athletics events.
