Clear adds Seattle sports teams to biometric portfolio

Biometric identity platform Clear has signed partnerships with NFL American football team the Seattle Seahawks, Major League Baseball side the Seattle Mariners and Major League Soccer franchise the Seattle Sounders.

Clear’s biometric solutions will be implemented at CenturyLink Field (pictured) – where the Seahawks and Sounders play their home games – and Safeco Field, home of the Mariners. The service will be available both upon entry at the venues and when ordering concessions once inside.

The Seahawks represent Clear’s first NFL partner, while the Sounders are the fourth MLS franchise to team up with the company. The deals come on the back of Clear’s landmark deal with Major League Baseball, signed last month and effective from 2019, which will see biometric ticketing introduced at all participating ballparks.

Clear chief executive Cary Seidman Becker said: “Seattle Clear members now enjoy frictionless experiences from gate-to-seat at two of the largest sports and entertainment venues in the city, and from curb-to-gate on their travels through SeaTac and beyond.

“Reimagining the concessions experience is a natural extension of our platform in sports and we’re thrilled to partner with the Seahawks, Mariners and Sounders to bring it to life for their fans.”

David Young, senior vice-president and general manager of operations at CenturyLink Field, added: “Having an excellent and safe fan experience is paramount in everything we do, so we are excited to introduce Clear’s innovative security lanes and biometric payment and age verification to fans at CenturyLink Field.”

Clear will also be available during concerts held at CenturyLink Field and Safeco Field for both access and concessions.
