Interactive plan outlines details of Atlético Madrid’s new ground

Spanish newspaper ABC has published an interactive plan detailing the layout of Estadio La Peineta, the future home stadium of Spanish Liga football club Atlético Madrid.

The former athletics stadium is currently undergoing reconstruction work and is due to open in time for the start of the 2017-18 Liga season. It will have a capacity of 68,000 once completed.

The plan outlined that 1,100 parking spaces would be present under one of the stands at Estadio La Peineta, with space for a further 3,000 vehicles. A 46,000-square-metre translucent roof will also be fitted and is expected to cover 96 per cent of the stadium.

Three large scoreboards will be located inside the ground, while there will be 80 executive boxes located across the stadium’s middle tier.

The upcoming 2016-17 Liga season will mark Atlético’s last at its current Vicente Calderón stadium.
