English non-League football club Kettering Town has released draft plans for a new 6,500-capacity stadium.
Kettering, which plays in the seventh-tier Southern League Premier Division, plans on redeveloping its current Latimer Park home ground into a multi-purpose complex.
As well as a new stadium, the site would include a sports and leisure centre with a full-size 3G pitch, and 220 car parking spaces.
The club will consult with local residents and Burton Latimer Town Council before pressing ahead with the plans, which would be carried out in structured phases if given the green light.
“We are excited by the prospect of developing Latimer Park into a complete sporting facility supporting local clubs, not just football,” chairman Ritchie Jeune said. “We believe that there is a genuine need for facilities this side of Kettering and we are hopeful that the local residents will provide us with valuable feedback on the design and usage of the site.”
Latimer Park is located in the nearby town of Burton Latimer. Jeune added that the club still has a desire to move back to its hometown at some point in the future, but it is nevertheless keen to redevelop Latimer Park.
“We will not be building a ‘white elephant’ under the Kettering Town FC banner,” Jeune said. “For the development of Latimer Park to be successful it needs to cater for the needs of the Burton community and be accessible to the whole Burton community of which KTFC are a part.”
Kettering Town earlier this week became the latest global stadium project to confirm their attendance at TheStadiumBusiness Design & Development Summit 2016, making our current total 58 projects confirmed, representing more than €6.1bn worth of construction on site in Manchester/Liverpool (31 Oct-2 Nov).
