AEG Facilities to oversee Stadio della Roma development

The AEG Facilities subsidiary of sport and entertainment company AEG has agreed a deal to oversee the development of Stadio della Roma, the future home of Italian Serie A football club AS Roma.

AEG Facilities’ new global solutions division, which was launched earlier this week, will be involved in the venue’s final design and construction process before the ground opens. AEG Facilities will itself provide a range of services including event programming, purchasing and staff training once the 52,500-capacity venue is open.

Construction work is expected to begin next year, with Roma hoping to move in to the ground in time for the 2019-20 Serie A season.

“AEG Facilities is a worldwide leader in the global sports market and we are proud to be partnered with them,” Roma president James Pallotta said. “We look forward to working closely with their team of industry experts and have total confidence in AEG's ability to lead day-to-day stadium operations and a mix of year-round entertainment events that we plan to hold at the Stadio della Roma.”

AEG Facilities president Bob Newman added: “This stadium is a critical piece in AS Roma's storied history and will transform both the sports landscape and fan experience in Italy. It will be a true multi-use stadium and will host not only the world's best soccer matches, but also concerts, festivals and other events.”

Stadio della Roma will serve as the centrepiece of a wide-ranging development project that also includes plans for a new training facility, as well as entertainment areas, bars and restaurants.
