Liverpool invites fans to open events at new-look Anfield

English Premier League football club Liverpool has offered fans the chance to sample first-hand the redeveloped Main Stand at Anfield, two weeks before the stadium stages its first game of the season.

Liverpool has organised two free open events for supporters on August 26 and August 29. Tickets are free and will initially be made available to season ticket holders in the Main Stand. Tickets will then be offered to other season ticket holders and members before any remaining tickets go on general sale.

The events have been organised in line with a safety certification process, which ensures Anfield is fit to stage games. Supporters will be able to sample entertainment and a new menu on the Main Stand’s concourse during the events.

The August 26 event will feature an opening training session with Liverpool’s U18s side, with the club’s U23 and women’s teams hosting sessions of their own on August 29.

The redevelopment of Anfield’s Main Stand gives the stadium an increased capacity of around 53,000.

Due to ongoing work at the stadium, Liverpool will not play a home fixture until September 10, when it hosts reigning champion Leicester City almost a month into the season. Liverpool had been due to host Burnley on August 20 but both clubs have agreed to move the game to the Lancashire side's Turf Moor ground.
