Tottenham, Liverpool provide stadium updates

English Premier League football club Tottenham Hotspur has released an update on the ongoing development work at its White Hart Lane stadium ahead of its first home game of the season tomorrow (Saturday).

White Hart Lane is being partially demolished to make way for Tottenham’s new 61,000-capacity ground, which is being built directly opposite the club’s current home.

As a result, the North East corner of White Hart Lane has been completely removed. Tottenham confirmed that the area is now being prepared ahead of the start of the basement dig later this year. New walkways and temporary staircases have been fitted to ensure ease of access on match days.

Work on the new ground is also progressing well, according to Tottenham, with first- and second-floor construction having already commenced.

Meanwhile, Tottenham’s fellow Premier League club Liverpool has officially tested the new floodlights at Anfield as the development of the ground nears completion.

The floodlights comprise 198 2kw lamps fitted to each of Anfield’s four stands. Liverpool said the state-of-the-art lights would increase the quality of slow-motion viewing technology, which the club uses in match day analysis.

The capacity of Anfield’s Main Stand is being increased to over 18,000 as part of the renovation. As a result of the work, Liverpool will not play a home league game until the fourth round of Premier League fixtures, with Leicester City visiting Anfield on September 10.
