Anfield offers best fan experience in Premier League, survey shows

Liverpool’s Anfield home offers the best experience for Premier League football fans, according to VisitFootball’s quality assured stadium assessment scheme.

VisitFootball has been formed through a partnership with the Live Tourism and VisitEngland bodies and its scheme draws on the opinions of home and away fans, among them supporters that require specialist access. VisitFootball also spoke to fans who sit in hospitality suites at stadia.

It marks the first time that Anfield has been ranked first for its overall fan experience. Liverpool’s disabled facilities continue to lead the way, with the club having secured top spot in the scheme’s accessibility assessment for the fourth consecutive year.

Anfield underwent significant redevelopment work over the summer, with the expansion of the ground’s Main Stand taking its overall capacity to more than 54,000.

As part of the revamp, Anfield’s iconic Shankly Gates have been relocated to the stadium’s Centenary Stand. The gates, named after former manager Bill Shankly, had been located at the Anfield Road end of the stadium. The gates were placed in safe storage in February 2015 while construction work was carried out.

Liverpool’s first game at the redeveloped stadium takes place this Saturday against defending Premier League champion Leicester City.
