Construction on the new Stadio della Roma in Rome, Italy, is set to begin in March of next year, according to local councillor Michele Civita.
The Stadio della Roma will become the new home of Italian Serie A football club AS Roma, which is due to move into the facility in 2019, ending a lengthy spell at its current home, the Stadio Olimpico.
Speaking to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, Civita, regional councillor for the Lazio Region of Rome, said that authorities should give the project the green light in the coming weeks, with work on track to begin on March 6.
“In the next 15 days, the authorities may request additional documentation and clarification, with the project to be presented to all the competent authorities on September 20,” Civita said.
