Oxford United given go-ahead for temporary stand

English League One third-tier football club Oxford United has been granted permission to construct a temporary fourth stand at its Kassam Stadium.

Oxford City Council gave the green light to plans, under which 725 temporary seats will be installed at the stadium for three years, boosting its capacity to 13,235.

The club said the stand is required to help cope with an increased demand for tickets, following the team’s promotion to League One last season. The stadium has sold out on a number of occasions this term.

However, despite having secure approval from the Council, the project still needs to be given the go-ahead by landlord Firoz Kassam, who is yet to comment on the issue.
