Tottenham seeking record naming rights deal for new stadium – report

English Premier League football club Tottenham Hotspur is seeking upwards of £400m (€470m/$528m) in sponsorship revenue from a naming rights partner for its new home ground, according to the London Evening Standard.

The newspaper said that Tottenham, which is scheduled to move into the new stadium in 2018, is eyeing what would comfortably be the biggest deal of its kind in English football.

The Standard said that Tottenham has already approached a number of “top-level organisations” over a potential naming rights partnership. The Qatar Investment Authority is understood to be interested.

Manchester City’s £400m deal with Abu Dhabi-based airline Etihad Airways is currently the most lucrative stadium naming rights deal in England.

Tottenham is said to be seeking such a high fee to cover the costs of construction, which could soar as high as £750m. The 61,000-capacity stadium is in the process of being built across the road from the club's current ground, White Hart Lane.
