LNR outlines terms of next stage of stadium scheme

The Ligue Nationale de Rugby (LNR), which governs the top division of French rugby union, the Top 14, has given the go-ahead to a new scheme that hopes to improve the standard of stadia across the country.

Ahead of the 2012-13 season, the LNR launched the first stage of its ‘Label Stades’ project to help Top 14 clubs and second-tier Pro D2 sides renovate their stadia. The five-season stage concludes with the 2016-17 season.

The second stage of the project covers the 2017-18 to 2022-23 seasons. The LNR confirmed that 15 per cent of the fixed part of television and marketing rights revenue would be put towards the second stage of Label Stades.

The scheme aims to improve the quality of surfaces, lighting and commercial operations at stadia, provide a welcome for spectators on match days, and pave the way for the integration of new technologies.
