Texas Rangers unveil new multi-purpose entertainment complex

Major League Baseball team the Texas Rangers has unveiled plans for a new entertainment complex that will be built adjacent to its new ballpark.

The complex, known as ‘Texas Live!’, will feature a 30,000-foot dining and entertainment venue, Rangers Republic.

Texas Live! will also include a 35,000-foot, multi-level gathering spot, Arlington Backyard, which the team said would serve as the “living room” of the complex.

The complex will be built adjacent to the team’s current home stadium, Globe Life Park.

“The great thing about this ownership group is that they think big," MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said, when speaking of the proposed new stadium. "Ray (Davis, Rangers co-owner) has been talking to me about this project. I must admit, the very first time we had a conversation on it, I hung up the phone and thought, 'Wow, there is a big thought there.' Hats off to him.

“We're going to end up with a facility here that's going to provide a comfortable, seasonal viewing opportunity for the fans of the Rangers, as they come to see Major League Baseball, and robust entertainment opportunity that surrounds that ballpark. There's nothing better than that.”

The Rangers’ new ballpark still requires approval via a public vote, which will take place on November 9. If given the go-ahead, the stadium is expected to be open by 2020. Manfred said a new stadium would give the Rangers extra pulling power when it comes to hosting major MLB events in the future.

“Obviously, some of our jewel events, most notably the All-Star Game, take place in the middle of the summer,” Manfred added. “To have a market like Dallas-Fort Worth (have) a stadium that's climate controlled, it's an opportunity for us to bring these special events to a market that's really important for us.”
