Upton Park being used as movie set before demolition

Upton Park, the former home stadium of English Premier League football club West Ham United, is being used as a film set for a new Hollywood movie before its demolition.

Final Score, which will star Pierce Brosnan, is due for release next year and has been dubbed “Die Hard in a soccer stadium”.

Yesterday (Tuesday), several explosions were carried out at Upton Park as filming got underway at the ground.

“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to film in this unique and legendary location,” producer Marc Goldberg said, according to UK newspaper The Independent. “The (Premier League) is the biggest football league in the world and their impending move from Upton Park to the Olympic Stadium has been reported globally.

“We have a stellar team looking to deliver a $20m non-stop action, world-class film with a one off unique opportunity to utilise an iconic stadium before it’s demolished. Imagine Die Hard in a soccer stadium.”

West Ham moved to London Stadium, formerly known as the Olympic Stadium, in the summer ahead of the 2016-17 season. Upton Park is due to be demolished later this year.
