Thailand welcomes unusual football field concept

A real estate developer is turning awkward, non-rectangular areas of wasteland into football pitches in a highly-populated area of Thailand’s capital, Bangkok.

AP Thailand and advertising agency CJ WORX introduced the Unusual Football Field concept into a number of asymmetrical spaces scattered across the Khlong Toei district.

The developers hoped “to promote relationships among the people in the community” and have “proven that designing outside boundaries can help foster creativity used to develop these useful spaces”.

A spokesperson said: “We hope that other communities will adapt this idea to change their own irregular space into an area for organising various activities, under the concept that any abnormal space can achieve the highest benefit.”
