Regina stadium supply given all clear

The new home of the Saskatchewan Roughriders Canadian Football League team has had its water supply passed by inspectors after it was initially declared unsafe last week.

The new Mosaic Stadium, in the city of Regina, was given the all-clear by scientists just ahead of a test game between college football teams Regina Rams and Saskatchewan Huskies on Saturday. However, it was decided to proceed with the back-up plan that had been announced when gravel and stones were found in the water supply, as reported by The Stadium Business on Friday.

Organisers told patrons to bring their own drinks and also stationed water tankers at the site.

However, stadium chiefs scrapped plans to post signs at all 23 of its washrooms, cautioning people not to drink the water.

“We took steps to ensure public safety and other measures have been put in place to provide drinking water for football fans,” said Regina Mayor Michael Fougere.

“We knew we would have the results back today, but this provides us the opportunity to test our back-up plans.”
