Mercedes-Benz Stadium powers up with Scana Energy deal

Natural gas marketer and energy supplier Scana Energy has agreed to become a founding partner of Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the future home of NFL American football team the Atlanta Falcons and Major League Soccer expansion franchise Atlanta United.

Scana is the 10th company to sign up to support the new 71,000-capacity facility, which is due to open next year, and joins a number of other local and national businesses that are also backing the site.

Under the founding partner agreement, Scana will provide natural gas service for the stadium, in addition to all Falcons and United facilities. Scana has served as the official natural gas provider of the Falcons since 2013.

To mark the deal, the company will offer fans of both the Falcons and United the chance to win a behind-the-scenes tour of the new stadium. Winning supporters will be able to meet a Falcons player, mascot Freddie Falcon and Falcons cheerleaders, as well as take part in photo opportunities and receive official merchandise from both teams.

“Joining the Mercedes-Benz Stadium founding partners will deepen Scana Energy’s long-standing partnership with the Falcons and our commitment to the Atlanta community,” Scana vice-president and general manager George Devlin said.

Tim Zulawski, chief commercial officer of AMB Sports & Entertainment, added: “As a founding partner of Mercedes-Benz Stadium, we are excited for Scana Energy to extend their partnership beyond the Atlanta Falcons to include the Atlanta United soccer franchise.”
