Bristol Arena construction delayed until 2019

Bristol Mayor Marvin Rees has revealed that work on the city’s new arena will be delayed until 2019.

The 12,000-capacity Bristol Arena had initially been scheduled for completion late next year, but the £92.5m (€102.7m/$114.8m) project has suffered a series of set-backs.

Although project manager last year said work would be complete by 2018, this deadline has now been put back a further 12 months, with Mayor Rees saying that he “intended to deliver” the finished project by 2019, according to the BBC.

Mayor Rees also issued a warning over the spiralling costs of the project, which would see an arena built in the Temple Meads area of the city.
