Genting Arena welcomes LED lighting first in UK

LED lighting and colour-changing audience technology has been installed in the UK for the first time at Genting Arena, an entertainment venue in Birmingham.

The £800,000 (€891,000/$980,000) technology will allow for LED fixtures to be controlled individually, producing a variety of colours, whilst also reducing light glare to audiences.

The working lights have also been replaced with a new LED fluorescent fitting to lift up overall light levels around the bowl, with super-fast fibre-optic cables and ETC programmes connecting the revamped control system.

“The installation of this new colour changing lighting system has really improved the quality of our lighting solutions within the arena, and will help create an unforgettable experience for all our event-goers,” Phil Mead, managing director of the Genting Arena, told the Event Industry News website.

“The £800,000 system can create different atmospheres for all genres of event, and allows event organisers to use their exact brand colours throughout the arena. With our lighting, they have more flexibility to deliver a bespoke customer journey, a unique option that cannot be found anywhere else in the UK at present.”
