Purple connects with Pacers’ Bankers Life Fieldhouse

UK-based intelligent spaces firm Purple has agreed a deal to provide its guest WiFi solution to Bankers Life Fieldhouse, the home of the Indiana Pacers North American NBA basketball franchise.

Under the three-year agreement, Purple will secure 437 Ruckus access points at the facility, which also hosts the home matches of Women’s National Basketball Association team Indiana Fever, as well as various other sports and non-sporting events.

Purple will provide real-time analytics and marketing to enable the venue to engage with visitors and understand the use of physical spaces, as well as learn more about customers and visitors to the arena.

Ed Frederici, chief technology officer of Pacers Sports and Entertainment, owner of the NBA team, said: “We chose Purple for three simple reasons: the completeness of their solution, their strong focus on innovation and their culture.

“They were a clear leader in the bidding process from the start. They have a consummate understanding of the market space and have developed software that is both broad and deep and brings the future to the present rather than relying on approaches of the past.”

Gavin Wheeldon, chief executive of Purple, added: “We are hoping that the results provided from our analytics platform will transform how the Indiana Pacers and Indiana Fever interact with their fans. In turn we hope that this will increase overall ticket, merchandise, food and drink sales, along with a significantly improved brand loyalty.”
