NHL’s Hurricanes hail Uber for PNC Arena

Transportation network company Uber has entered into a partnership with the Carolina Hurricanes and the North American NHL ice hockey franchise’s PNC Arena.

Uber will become the preferred ride-sharing application of the Hurricanes and will also establish an ‘Uber Zone’ outside of the team’s home arena.

The zone, available at all events at the PNC Arena, will offer a pre-event drop-off point and enable customers to meet their drivers after events.

Uber will also run an ‘Uber Upgrade’ promotion on selected Hurricanes home game days, with fans able to win ‘Champions Club’ tickets to the game.

Don Waddell, president of the Hurricanes and PNC Arena parent company Gale Force Sports & Entertainment, said: “Having the Uber Zone will make it that much easier for fans to use Uber to get to and from Hurricanes games and other PNC Arena events. Working with the leading ride-sharing company is a great way to enhance guests’ experiences when attending events at PNC Arena.”

Raj Naik, North Carolina general manager at Uber, added: “We're excited to partner with the Hurricanes and PNC Arena, and we hope the new Uber Zone will make it even easier for fans to take Uber to and from Hurricanes games and all the great events PNC Arena has to offer.”
