The New York Yankees North American Major League Baseball franchise and Major League Soccer’s New York City have announced that their Yankee Stadium home will undergo a series of enhancements.

Construction work is due to begin this week, with the improvements to be made in time for the 2017 regular-season campaign.

The series includes an expansion of the Mastercard Batter’s Eye Deck to 3,500 square feet, with drink rails to overlook the field of play, as well as new left and right-field landing areas that will serve as open-air social gathering spaces.

In addition, the new AT&T Sports Lounge featuring DirecTV service will open for business on the field level of the stadium. The facility will feature a full bar with craft beers and cocktails, large-screen televisions and power/USB outlets.

Hal Steinbrenner, managing general partner of the Yankees, said: “We have listened to ours fans and ticket-holders and their top requests were for more family-friendly and socially-oriented spaces at Yankee Stadium.

“Having these types of spaces in Yankee Stadium is fundamental to the expectations of our fans, and we look forward to making them a huge part of the Yankee Stadium experience in 2017 and beyond.”
