Overseas investors target Silverstone

The owners of Silverstone, the home of the British round of the Formula One motor-racing world championship, has entered into exclusive talks with a possible overseas investor in the circuit.

The latest discussions were reported by the Reuters news agency just hours after investment talks with car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover collapsed.

The British Racing Drivers’ Club, which owns the circuit, had been discussing a deal with Jaguar Land Rover since April that could have transformed part of the site into a “heritage centre” for luxury cars.

The club said that the identity of the potential overseas investor could not be disclosed due to a confidentiality agreement. However, according to Silverstone’s operators, the individuals involved have long-held interests in the UK.

The club added that the proposed deal structure with Jaguar Land Rover was not acceptable and said that a bid from Motor Sport Vision was being held in reserve, Reuters added.
