Alternative Everton dockside stadium design proposed by architect

A stunning new design for a waterfront stadium in Liverpool for English Premier League club Everton has been proposed by architect Michael McDonough.

As reported by TheStadiumBusiness.com, Everton’s majority shareholder, Farhad Moshiri, suggested earlier this week that the club had made a decision on the location of its new stadium.

Moshiri recently visited Bramley Moore Dock in the centre of Liverpool and another possible stadium site, Stonebridge Cross in Croxteth. The club is looking to move from its ageing home, 40,000-seat Goodison Park.

Everton is already working with Meis Architects on a stadium design.

“It’s just a boot up the arse to get us to do something a bit more impressive," McDonough told the Liverpool Echo newspaper.

“I wanted to encourage more ambitious ideas rather than the bland crap we sometimes get.

“It’s taking a look at parts of the city that could have a lot more vision applied to them. I’m trying to force the ideas through in a city that’s bogged down by its heritage and lack of ambition.

“This is a suggestion of how that site could look and how it could help with the regeneration of North Liverpool.”
