AFL’s Geelong secures new stadium naming rights partner

Geelong

AFL Aussie rules football club Geelong Cats has announced that local health fund GMHBA has acquired the naming rights to its Simonds Stadium home ground.

According to the AFL.com website, the arrangement forms part of a new, wide-ranging deal between the two, with GMHBA agreeing a 10-year partnership with the club.

The naming rights section of the deal will come into effect from 2018, while the firm will also benefit from branding placement on Geelong’s playing shorts and the match ball during home matches. The latter part of the deal will commence next year.

“This partnership is anchored in shared values, the delivery of meaningful benefits and our mutual ambition to support the health and wellbeing of our members and their communities,” GMHBA chief executive Mark Valena said.

“We’re in this for the long haul and we’re excited about the reach and profile GMHBA will receive through this partnership, which will underpin our continued business success within the core health insurance business and boost our presence in the delivery of front line health care services.”

Brian Cook, chief executive of Geelong, added: “We are committed to growing our stadium and our business here for the long haul; so are GMHBA and that’s why this partnership makes such good sense.”
