Tor di Valle ‘perfectly suited’ for Stadio della Roma, says study

Tor di Valle, the planned site for the new Stadio della Roma, is “perfectly suited” for the project, according to research by geological and hydrogeological resources company Geores.

The firm spent almost one year testing the location, analysing more than 450 soil samples and planting sensors to learn more about the site for the stadium, which will be the new home of Italian Serie A football club AS Roma.

Claudio Vercelli, general manager of Geores, who worked on the research along with his team of engineers, geologists and technicians, said that the area is well suited to a development of such scale as the proposed 52,500-seat arena.

“The Tor di Valle project represents a number of opportunities,” Vercelli said. “These are works that this area of Rome has been waiting decades to happen.

“Geores drilled over four kilometres of holes [in the proposed site] during the survey phase, and collected over 450 samples … the quality of the earth beneath makes it apt for construction.”

Another recent report found that the stadium could be worth €20bn ($21.2bn/£17.4bn) to Italy’s capital city over the next decade.
