AEG Ogden extends deal to operate top Brisbane venue

AEG Ogden has been reappointed to manage the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre by the Queensland Government in Australia.

The contract will run for an initial period of five years, starting on July 1, 2017, with an option to extend the agreement by a further five years.

AEG Ogden, which operates venues across the Asia-Pacific region, has managed the Brisbane facility since 1995. Over the past 21 years, the centre has hosted 18,000 events and welcomed 14 million guests.

“AEG Ogden’s reappointment as venue manager for a further 10 years is testament to their hard work and professionalism, and we look forward to working with all major stakeholders in ensuring Brisbane continues to attract events which in turn contribute significantly to the local economy,” said AEG Ogden’s chairman and chief executive, Harvey Lister, who hailed the centre’s management staff.

“Bob O’Keeffe and his team have been committed to providing world-class and innovative service over many years, culminating in winning the most prestigious award possible in the highly competitive business events industry earlier this year.”

In July the centre picked up the gong for ‘the world’s best convention centre’ by the International Association of Congress Centres.

Queensland’s Deputy Premier and Minister for Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning, Jackie Trad, added: “Since it was built on part of the former World Expo site, the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre has been a centrepiece venue for the people of Brisbane, Queensland – and in a very real sense, the world.”
