Officials heading up a renovation project for the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, the home of Spanish La Liga football club Real Madrid, have revealed the initiative will include a new hotel and small mall.
The project recently gained approval and is scheduled to be completed by 2020. While the stadium itself will benefit from a host of enhancements, visitors will also be able to enjoy complementary amenities.
According to Marca, although the hotel will not be a large facility, it will offer views of the playing surface inside the Bernabeu. The design of the stadium will also mean that noise for neighbouring buildings, included the planned hotel, will be reduced.
The work is expected to cost approximately €400m ($429.7m/£345.4m), with the club hoping to secure a stadium naming rights partner to help finance the project.
