AEG Facilities dominates Pollstar list for 2016 ticket sales

Venues operated by the AEG Facilities division of sport and entertainment company AEG accounted for 47 per cent of all tickets sold at the top 20 arenas throughout 2016, according to an end-of-year rankings list compiled by Pollstar magazine.

The O2 in London once again topped the list for tickets sold, with some 1.5 million having been bought for events during 2016. It marked the 10th consecutive year the O2 has held the top spot since opening in 2007.

More than 12 million tickets were sold at AEG Facilities-operated venues over the course of the year, while Pollstar’s top-100 list included 27 arenas associated with the company.

Other AEG Facilities venues to feature among the top 10 are the AccorHotels Arena in Paris, Barclays Center in New York and the SSE Hydro in Glasgow.

“We are proud of AEG Facilities’ rankings in Pollstar’s 2016 year-end report, and again are excited to see our global network of elite venues leading the way in attracting and hosting the world’s greatest events,” AEG Facilities president Bob Newman said.

“With 27 of our venues ranking in the top 100, it continues to showcase the strength of our global network and growth of our worldwide division.”
