Stadio della Roma project remains uncertain as decision delayed

A decision over the proposed construction of a new stadium for Italian Serie A football club AS Roma has been delayed, after initial suggestions that the project would be dropped.

Reports had suggested that Rome’s mayor Virginia Raggi was ready to reject the Stadio della Roma initiative in response to pressure from her anti-establishment Movimento 5 Stelle (MS5) party.

However, Football Italia has now said that the Conferenza dei Servizi has been delayed by 30 days to reduce the scope of the project and address the concerns raised by MS5.

First announced in 2014, the Stadio della Roma project has suffered a series of delays, although the club had hoped to begin work later this year.
