Ravens reveal stadium upgrades

The Baltimore Ravens NFL American football franchise has unveiled images of its planned upgrades at M&T Bank Stadium.

Last week the city’s Board of Public Works unanimously backed a proposal to allow the Maryland Stadium Authority to accept $120m (€112m/£96m) from the franchise to upgrade parts of the venue. The Stadium Authority has also been given the green light to commit $24m to the project.

Planned improvements include the installation of escalators and elevators at the top level of the stadium, but the most striking upgrades include massive new video boards in each end zone.

The video boards will be of 7,400 square feet – more than double the size of the current 3,300-square-feet boards, as shown by the renderings revealed by the franchise on its official website.

Additionally, there will be 1,600-square-foot video boards in each corner of the stadium, as well as enhancements to the club level and expanded kitchen facilities.

Ravens president Dick Cass has warned that the upgrades could lead to an increase in ticket prices for home games.
