Sporting Kansas City benefiting from new SeatGeek platform

Major League Soccer franchise Sporting Kansas City is already beginning to reap the benefits of a new platform developed by ticket marketplace SeatGeek.

Last week, Sporting KC began providing single-game ticket sales using SeatGeek Open, the company’s new system that integrates match tickets across various third-party destinations.

The Sports Business Journal notes that there have since been more mobile-based purchases, more new buyers into the system and a higher sales volume overall.

“We’re very encouraged by what we’re seeing so far. There’s been a big uptick in activity overall and new folks coming in to our system, but also in the speed of transactions and conversion rates,” Gregg Allen, Sporting KC’s vice-president of ticket sales and service, said.

SeatGeek entered into a partnership with the club last summer and also serves as the official ticket partner of MLS. The company recently expanded its presence in MLS through a new partnership with the Portland Timbers.
