Report finds that MSFA violated ethical principals at US Bank Stadium

A report has found that the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority (MSFA) was guilty of ethical violations when using two luxury suites at US Bank Stadium, the home of the Minnesota Vikings NFL American football franchise.

The state-of-the-art venue opened in July ahead of the 2016 NFL season. A report, details of which were covered by the Minnesota Star-Tribune newspaper, has revealed that the MSFA, which oversees the running of the stadium, provided 158 luxury suite tickets to family and friends.

The Star-Tribune reports that legislative auditor James Nobles released the findings of his investigation after his office interviewed MSFA chairwoman Michele Kelm-Helgen and executive director Ted Mondale.

Nobles found the use of an additional 35 tickets “questionable” and called for tighter oversight of the MSFA.

Republican legislative leaders have vowed to “return integrity” to the board and a revamp is expected to take place. Sen. Julie Rosen said that the legislature has time to “clean this up before the Super Bowl”. US Bank Stadium is set to stage the NFL’s showpiece game on February 4 next year.
