MLB’s Pirates sign naming rights partner for training facility

The Pittsburgh Pirates Major League Baseball franchise has agreed a deal for the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) to become the new naming rights partner for its spring training ballpark.

Under the 15-year agreement, McKechnie Field in Bradenton, Florida, will now be known as LECOM Park.

However, while the facility will drop ‘McKechnie’ from its name, the new home clubhouse at the venue will be named as the McKechnie Home Clubhouse in continued honour of Hall of Fame manager Bill McKechnie.

Pirates president Frank Coonelly said: “LECOM Park is our organisation’s southern home and we are proud to announce this agreement with a respected and established brand that has roots in Western Pennsylvania and has quickly become a leader in education in the Bradenton area.”
