A new app that aims to simplify the sharing of tickets has been launched by Californian startup Season Share.
The company offers season-ticket holders the opportunity to save money by allowing them to share with friends or fans of their team.
Season Share, which this month was a finalist in the prestigious SXSW Accelerator Sports Category startup awards at the South by Southwest Conference and Festivals, wants to help fans avoid paying big prices through secondary ticketing sites.
Founders Jonathan Rappaport and Robert Beadle wanted to tap into the ‘shared economy’ by allowing sports fans the opportunity to split the cost and use of season tickets.
Season Share is currently in beta testing and in the process of signing partnerships with North American sports leagues and teams.
“We’ll be the first peer-to-peer marketplace that lets people split purchases of season tickets,” Rappaport told the Nibletz technology news website. “Typically, any sharing is done offline, but we bring this to a mobile app. You can share with friends or get paired with people.
“Instead of paying 60 per cent increases on secondary ticket sites, you can now split directly through Season Share.”
