Yankee Stadium has showcased a number of its new features to coincide with the start of the new Major League Baseball season.
As the New York Post newspaper reports, the home of the New York Yankees now features a ‘Sunrun Kids Clubhouse’ for young fans to test their skills on game days.
A zone for adults featuring new decks, drink rails with USB outlets and a sports lounge, complete with TVs, has also been created. A host of new food options will also be available for fans to sample.
Yankee Stadium also serves as the home of Major League Soccer franchise New York City FC.
In other news, the Yankees’ rival MLB team, the Cleveland Indians, has fitted its home ballpark with a new energy-efficient lighting system. The Associated Press news agency reports that Progressive Field’s 674, 1,500-watt light fixtures have been replaced by 456, 1,000-watt bulbs.
The new lights are said to be between 20 and 30 per cent brighter than the older bulbs and could result in a 70-per-cent reduction in electrical use.
