Developers have started work on the new multi-purpose Dickies Arena in the Fort Worth area of Texas.
The Dickies Arena, which will have a capacity of 14,000, is scheduled to open in November 2019 and will be able to host concerts, sporting events and rodeo shows. The project is expected to cost $450m (€419.4m/£350.8m).
The venue has taken on the moniker of Fort Worth-based Williamson-Dickie Manufacturing Co, which signed a deal for the naming rights. The Star Telegram newspaper said terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
The arena will be located near to the Will Roger Memorial Center while a 2,200-space, six-level parking garage will also be built to complement the facility.
Mayor Betsy Price said in a press statement: “Our new arena is going to set the standard for generations. It will host wonderful events and be a gathering place for our community.”
Events already booked to take place at the new arena include the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s Women’s Gymnastic Championships in 2020.
