Lord’s cricket ground extends JP Morgan sponsorship deal

Lord’s cricket ground and its media centre have extended a sponsorship deal with global financial services firm JP Morgan for three additional years.

The deal continues the partnership between the ground and JP Morgan that began in 2011. Under the new agreement, JP Morgan has an option to renew further after the 2019 cut-off, upon Lord’s being allocated matches in future years.

Following the completion of the £4m (€4.7m/$5.2m) refurbishment of the JP Morgan Media Centre, the extended partnership deal was signed and the company will continue to benefit from branding around the ground, sponsorship of the annual MCC Museum Exhibition, as well as hospitality, events and digital rights.

Lord’s and its owner, the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), will team up to assist in projects such as preparing secondary school students for a career after education, among other community-based projects.

MCC’s head of commercial, Jon Robinson, said: “JP Morgan is the most significant commercial sponsor that MCC has ever worked with, and the club is naturally delighted to be renewing our successful association.

“Quite simply, it is an excellent strategic partnership that works very well, and it is fitting the agreement comes at a time when Lord’s prepares to host its first major match of the season.

“With £4m spent on a widespread refurbishment of the JP Morgan Media Centre, members of the media and visitors on the Lord’s Tour will get to experience the numerous improvements made to the building over the course of the last two winters.

“MCC’s continual investment in Lord’s is paramount, to ensure the Home of Cricket always provides a world-class experience, as is the running of the club’s numerous local, national and international community projects; JP Morgan’s sponsorship is a significant factor in helping to ensure MCC can invest in both areas.”

Additionally, JP Morgan is powering the Lords.org matchday blog, which will run for every international match day at Lord’s, featuring live scores, blog updates and exclusive content.
