Daktronics adds University of South Carolina to portfolio

Video display and scoreboard specialist Daktronics is to install a 12-display centre-hung system at Colonial Life Arena, the home of the University of South Carolina’s college basketball teams.

The new LED system will be installed at the 18,000-capacity facility by the end of the summer and is set to significantly enhance the fan experience.

The centre-hung system will feature four main displays with four-millimetre line spacing to provide the best possible image clarity throughout the venue. The displays will measure approximately 12 feet high by 20 feet wide and will be able to show one large image or multiple zones that can feature live video, instant replays, statistics and game information, graphics and sponsorship messages.

The system will also feature an upper ring, a lower-ring display and four corner wedges, as well as two underbelly displays. In addition, a large 360-degree ribbon display will be installed along the seating fascia to complement the displays shown on the centre-hung system.

“The technology and the video display quality of these new video and ribbon boards will make the in-venue experience at Colonial Life Arena the best in the nation,” said South Carolina athletics director Ray Tanner. “These new boards will make such a tremendous impact on our men’s and women’s basketball programs. It will be great for our student-athletes, coaches and fans.”
