Gillette Stadium, home to NFL American football franchise the New England Patriots, has completed the installation of its new synthetic turf surface.
The FieldTurf features fibre technology that makes the surface player-friendly, resilient and durable. It has been the surface of choice since transitioning from grass in 2006.
The turf also features FieldTurf’s proprietary infill system, which is important to ensure the field’s playability.
Gillette Stadium is also home to Major League Soccer team the New England Revolution, which will debut the turf tomorrow (Saturday) in its game against Real Salt Lake.
“We are excited to upgrade our game field to the latest FieldTurf technology” said Jim Nolan, senior vice-president of Gillette Stadium.
“It is our goal each year to provide the highest quality surface for the both the New England Patriots and New England Revolution, and we were eager to take advantage of FieldTurf’s latest innovations for the 2017 season.”
FieldTurf is also used as the surface for Seattle’s CenturyLink Field, home of NFL’s Seahawks and MLS’ Sounders, Portland’s Providence Park and Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The synthetic turf has had 16 installations across the NFL, including five game fields.
