Mayweather Promotions books MGM Grand Garden Arena

Mayweather Promotions has booked the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas for August 26.

With ongoing speculation on whether retired boxer Floyd Mayweather and UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor will meet in the ring, the new development points toward a matchup this year, according to the Bleacher Report.

The entry in the Nevada Athletic Commission’s event calendar reads: “Mayweather Promotions will promote a professional boxing event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. This event will be televised on Showtime,” according to the BloodyElbow website.

During the last eight years of his career, Mayweather fought exclusively at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The 40-year-old hung up his gloves in 2015 with an immaculate 49-0 professional record.

Discussions on the crossover clash between the two respective champions have been ongoing for much of this year.

In addition, McGregor, 28, posted a picture on Instagram that showed a picture of himself under a caption that read: “Something BIG is coming #BP.”

McGregor revealed that he had signed his part of the deal for the clash with Mayweather back in May, according to Sky Sports.
