StubHub Center partners with Daktronics, Universal Studios

StubHub Center, home of Major League Soccer franchise LA Galaxy, has partnered with video display and scoreboard specialist Daktronics to enhance its fan experience, while the team and the venue have also agreed a sponsorship deal with Universal Studios Hollywood.

Daktronics has agreed a deal to design, manufacture and install ten new LED displays at the venue, which is also set to serve as the temporary home of NFL American football team the LA Chargers while its new stadium is being built in Inglewood.

The new displays will cover 5,000 square feet of space. A new video display will be fitted at the venue’s south end to complement a similar structure at the opposite side of the ground.

The display will be capable of variable content zoning which will allow it to show one large image or to be divided into multiple zones. The display will facilitate live video playback, instant replays and other video features.

New ribbon displays will also be installed along the seating fascia on the south, east and west sides of the venue, while fresh control equipment will also be fitted.

“A key element of our philosophy is to continually re-invest in StubHub Center with the focus on our fan experience at our facility,” said Katie Pandolfo, general manager at StubHub Center. “Working with Daktronics on these additional improvements cements StubHub Center as a top venue in North America. We worked closely with the LA Galaxy and Los Angeles Chargers to implement these new LED displays to improve the experience at StubHub Center which will greatly impact our fans, partners and local community.”

Meanwhile, Universal Studios Hollywood has agreed a multi-year deal to become the official theme park partner of LA Galaxy and StubHub Center. The deal also names the park as a founding partner of the stadium.

A replica of the park’s iconic globe logo will feature on the new Daktronics display in the south end of StubHub Center as part of the agreement. The signage will debut during tomorrow’s (Saturday’s) MLS game against Houston Dynamo.

A range of social and digital media campaigns will also be launched to promote the partnership.

“Partnering with Universal Studios Hollywood presents a tremendous opportunity for AEG to add value to the fan experience at StubHub Center for Galaxy games and all of our other activities in our venues here,” said Robert Vartan, senior director global partnerships at AEG, which operates StubHub Center. “It also brings together three storied and equally like-minded Los Angeles entities coming together for the entertainment benefit of all Angelinos. Universal Studios Hollywood’s vision for outstanding service and commitment to customers aligns with ours, making this partnership a natural fit.”
