Australia’s National Rugby League (NRL) has linked up with arena management technology firm Techfront to enhance the fan experience at this year’s State of Origin series.
The agreement includes the installation of LED signage technology worth A$3m (€2m/US$2.3m) throughout the ANZ Stadium for Origin, which will allow fans in attendance to keep up with the latest statistics, celebrations and social media.
The NRL said the software “is just the start” of the partnership and that plans are in place to enhance signage, infrastructure and technology across stadia.
Andrew Abdo, chief commercial officer of the NRL, added: “Experiences don’t get much bigger than the Holden State of Origin series and I’m sure that every fan attending will appreciate keeping up to date with every moment, no matter where they are.”
Neil Maxwell, chief executive of Techfront, also said: “In keeping with the NRL’s long-term view towards enhancing technology, we want to make sure that fans and ultimately, NRL clubs benefit from the opportunities that a single digital signage solution offers.”
